NYC is one of my favorite places on the planet and it’s made so by avoiding every worst-case scenario. There is zero need to drive. You barely even have to catch a cab. And one of the best travel moments is walking through NYC at 1am to grab a slice of pizza at a local corner shop. I’ve yet to meet a rude New Yorker. Oh, another thing: never walk through the streets wearing anything that says you love New York. It’s fantastic to see the viewpoint of a local.

I have been to New York once about 9 years ago as part of an exchange student trip so the whole trip was planned out. But there was so much to see I would have not wanted to be there without a plan. Would love to go back some day! 🙂

People get so excited (it is mesmerizing) but forget that people are trying to live their normal lives. It’s hard not to look up too the whole time, but that can get dangerous (and kind of targets you as a tourist).

I’m European and sometimes I want some good junk food I cannot get here. Also, street vendors of the doughnut and coffee for x amount… sustained me for days on my last visit. I found the New Yorkers very friendly!

Coming from a New Jersey girl, there are a lot of crazy people in the city. Ask a cop. Ask an employee at a store, ask a public transportation employee…Do not ask a random stranger or you may get a crazy answer or hustled for looking like an out-of-towner. Most people are friendly, but you’re also not in Kansas anymore 😉
